Hey everyone! So I am here and loving it already! The trip went very well. Thanks so much for all your prayers! The first couple of days we spent in Jo-burg (our short name for Johannesburg, which I don't spell out because I can't spell it), which was definitely an eye opener for me to be in a city of 11 million people! It was very dirty and dangerous and interesting, but I'm glad we had that experience. It is actually really pretty here but looks a lot like anywhere in the U.S, except for I haven't seen any mountains.
We got in Friday night and then spent all day Saturday going to the Apartheid Museum and driving around the poorer area of town where Nelson Mandela used to live. It was very interesting to find out more about the Apartheid, although it was also very hard to see what the blacks all went through. I have decided that there is so much to learn here! There is no way I can learn everything in three weeks, but I am planning on learning whatever I can!
I am excited for this next week because it is the week that we'll be going to Beam Africa to hang out with the kids and do whatever else we will be doing. Sorry, I will have to write about it next time, because I don't really know what we'll be doing at this point of time.
I don't have much time so I just want to ask for your continued prayers! Please pray that we as a team would be able to grow closer and closer together and that we would not have anything cause division in any way. We have been working well together so far, but I know it is easy for things to come up between 32 people! Also, pray that this next week would go well at Beam Africa. Whatever we do, we want to bring glory to God and love those we meet. Also pray for a few of the girls in the group who are having a hard time with jet lag or something... one girl has not been able to sleep at all and has had a miserable weekend with something. Thank you so much!
If anyone would like to email me you can at this address... herronn@wildblue.net. I would love any emails at all!
I love you all! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
